Fastening systems are critical to the performance and safety of ballasted track, directly influencing rail stability, load transfer, vibration behaviour, and long-term geometry retention. This course provides a clear and practical understanding of how elastic rail clips, insulators, pads, baseplates, and anchoring systems work together to secure the rail and protect the track structure under demanding operational conditions. Learners explore the behavior of fastening components under dynamic loads, common failure modes, compatibility with sleeper materials, and the impacts of installation quality—supported by real-life good and bad practices observed across international high-speed, heavy-haul, metro, and conventional rail projects. Delivered by experts deeply involved in fastening technology from technical, operational, and commercial perspectives, the course is ideal for track designers, construction supervisors, QA/QC teams, maintenance engineers, procurement specialists, sales teams in the rail fastening and materials industries, and students from civil, mechanical, and transportation engineering faculties.
