Concrete Durability & Crack Management for Bridges

Understand how concrete cracks and deteriorates—and learn practical strategies to protect bridges from long-term damage.

About This Course

Concrete durability is one of the strongest predictors of a bridge’s long-term performance. This course provides a clear, practical understanding of how concrete deteriorates, why cracks form, and how durability problems evolve over time. Through real examples of good and bad practices, learners explore chloride ingress, corrosion, ASR, freeze–thaw, early-age cracking, restraint effects, temperature gradients, and long-term behaviour. Ideal for designers, contractors, QA/QC teams, procurement professionals, project managers, maintenance engineers, sales teams, and students, this course equips participants to diagnose, prevent, and manage cracking and deterioration across bridge elements—from decks and diaphragms to piers and abutments.
